The Southern gateway to Loch Awe.
Ford is a peaceful hamlet situated at the southern end of Loch Awe. Originally it was simply the place where the drovers would ford the river when taking cattle to Inverary and beyond (Falkirk and Glasgow markets).
To find out more about Ford's history read Professor John B. Stephenson's interesting book "Ford: a village in the West Highlands of Scotland".
