The longest inland loch in Scotland.
At 25 miles long, Loch Awe is the longest inland loch in Scotland, and one of the most famous for fishing. And according to legend, it has its very own monster too.
Its shores and the many islands carry plenty of signs of ancient use: an ivy-covered castle on Innischonnel, a ruined chapel and grave yard on Inishail, and the well known landmark that is Kilchurn Castle (today no longer on an island).
